Ute Stampede

Since the first year Dallin and I have been in Richfield we have gone to Nephi the weekend after the 4th of July to the Ute Stampede (It is a rodeo).  We started this tradition 3 years ago.  We went just for something to do and we really enjoyed it and decided we would go each year.  The rodeo goes on for 3 different nights.  Each day they ahve a parade before the rodeo.  The first year we went we happened to hit what the call the "Bathing Beauties" parade.   It is a bunch of high school girls in swim suits being paraded down their main street on either big nice trucks or classic old cars.  Can you imagine how well something like that would go over in Blanding.  I honestly could not believe that they were doing it, but as we got asking some people they said they do it ever year.  Kinda Crazy.

This year was no different.  We hit up the Bathing Beauties parade, then we went up to Spansih Fork for some Bajio.  Then that night the Rodeo.  Every year they have a man sky dive into the Arena with a huge America Flag attached to him, it is pretty cool, then right before the end event they do a bunch of fireworks.  We decided this year that as long as we are living in Utah we will try and make it to the Ute Stampede as a family tradition.

Here are some Pics of the Fireworks on the 4th.

4th of July

I know it has been almost 2 weeks now since we celebrated the 4th but I thought I would still post a little about it.  I just LOVE the 4th in Blanding.  In fact I even went so far as to tell Dallin I thought it was "The best celebration in the nation"  Maybe I am a little bias and it is the only 4th celebration that I have ever known but there is nothing like a small town celebration.

Our Independence Day weekend started on Thursday when we left Richfield for Blanding.  When we got there we just kinda hung out.  That night we went down to Blanding Family Practice to help Cathy with the UNHS float.

The morning of the 4th we woke up and went to the parade.  It was a typical Blanding parade.  The kids loved it and kept coming back and showing us all the candy they were getting.  As always I was thoroughly embarrassed about the Gadianton Band.  I say this every year and so this year my dad decided to be real funny and force me onto the float.  He stopped the band in front of Redd's true value where we always sit.  He came over to where I was sitting.  I didn't really think much of it I just thought he was oging to ask me something.  He asked to see my Camera, then when I gave it to him he handed it over to Dallin and that is when I realized what he was doing so I took of running.  Obviously my dad being bigger, stronger, and faster than me ended up catching me and putting me into the truck with him to ride for the rest of the parade.  Now Kendra hates the float as much as me so when we drove past her I forced her in with as well.

After the parade I played sand volleyball.  Me and Kendra typically play with my dad and Justin Moon but we decided they were getting to old so we booted them for some younger guys, We opted to play with Steve Snyder, Jordon, and Lant.  Well it didn't really help us much, we were still out of the tournament early.  Which I won't lie I don't mind, it is fun to play but nice to get done early and relax a little before the evening events.
That night we headed down to the centennial park to enjoy music, food, and fireworks.  I must say that this years fireworks were some of the best I have seen.  What a great 4th of July!!!
