Freezing Cold

So while all the rest of Utah seems to be getting quite a bit of snow and everyone else gets to enjoy it, all I get is like 2 inches and just freezing cold weather. For whatever reason in Richfield it gets so freakin cold but we never get tons of snow. The last 3 winters I have lived here the temp is always about 5 degrees colder than anywhere else (except maybe Logan) and I would say the biggest snow storm we have had was maybe 6 inches. I am beginning to re-think my previous feelings about liking utah because of the changes in seasons. I HATE winters in Richfield!!!!

............Ok so after reading all the comments I will have to admit a few things. Tiff/Noelle you are right the wardrobe change is fun, I love shopping and buying new fun things to wear, and I will admit also that Kendra is right, I don't just hate Richfield in the winter I don't really like it all around. It's ok; there are worse places to live. My heart will always be in Blanding =). Thanks for putting things into perspective for me guys.

A New Adventure

Dallin and I are off on another Business Adventure...................................................

Some of you may have heard the rumor......................................................................

It is in the final works now.............................................................................................

On January 1st we will be the official owners of.........................................................

We are currently in the final process of getting all the loans done and closing on the Subway in Blanding. It has come full circle now. When Dallin got off his mission he bought the Subway as a young 21 year old eager enterpunuer/business owner. Later his brother Jeremy joined. About a year after Dallin and I got married we sold the Subway to Jed Lyman to help grow our other business. It has now come back full cricle and we are going to be the proud owners of Subway once again. Dallin is very excited. I am excited and a little nervous (remember I am not such an eager enterpunuer).

Quirks

Quirks
Here are the rules:

1. Link the person who tagged you. Rach thanks for the tag!

2. Mention rules on your blog.

3. Tell about 6 quirks of yours.

4. Tag 6 fellow bloggers to do the same.

5. Leave a comment to let them know.I have many quirks... here are a few

1. I thought I was the only one that had this but as I read on my aunt Rachel's blog she does too, I am terrified of empty swimming pools. I have had this fear as long as I can remember, I use to hate driving by the swimming pool in the summer I would avoid it if I could and if I couldn't I would close my eyes when we went by.

2. I am a reiterator (if that is even a word) I constantly repeat myself during the same conversation. I will say the same thing over and over just in subtly different ways. I kinda just did it on this.

3. I cannot keep my fingernails long. I wish i could but everytime they get long within like a day I have them all bitten off. ( I guess this is kinda 2 quirks cause I can't keep them long and I bite them I don't clip them or file them.)

4. I do not like fish, of any kind. I have tried it all numerous times and the only thing I remotely can stomach is shrimp, somtimes.

5. I won't eat certain foods because of the texture that they have. I am getting better about this but in the past I would not eat avacados, water chestnuts, and a big one is fish, part of the reason I don't each fish is because it has a wierd bouncy thing going on.

6. I love, love, love popping my joints. Fingers, toes, neck, back you name I love it. For this reason I wish I had a live in Chiropractor or at least could go to one every day for free.

Now I tag.........

1. Tiff

2. Noelle

3. Ginger

4. Brittany

5. Laici (now you have a reason to post)

6. Meagan Adams (Now you also have a reason to update)

Hobbies

So lately I have been trying to find different hobbies I can enjoy. (I need them, every saturday I am stuck by myself to find something to do while Dal watches college football, the true love of his life) I have always thought I would enjoy photography and even bought a camera awhile back, but have not had tons of time to put into it. I have decide to change that and recently enrolled in a digital photography class and I even started a separate blog that I will be able to post things I am learning and pictures I am taking. You can check it out at http://www.lesliereddphotography.blogspot.com/.

I also really enjoy scrapbooking but don't have many pictures to scrapbook, maybe with getting into photography that will change. If anyone has any fun hobbiese they enjoy doing and would like to share please do.

General Conference

For as long as I can remember everytime General Conference comes around (especially in the fall because its her birthday) my mom suggests we go to a session of General Conference. Well this year the Sunday sessions just happen to fall right on her birthday so my whole family went up and was able to enjoy the last session of General Conference. It was such a neat experience. I really like General Conference and the spirit taht comes with it, but it was a whole different thing to be able to see it live, and experience that. The Tabernacle Choir is absolutlely amazing in person. Watching it on TV does not do them justice at all. Everytime they sang it gave me goosebumps, it was so powerful. And it was so neat to stand as a members of the church and with 20,000 other people sing How Firm A Foundation, and for sure last but not least to see our Prophet, a man chosen by God to direct his church speak to us. I have always love President Monson. Maybe it is because as long as I can remember he has been in the presidency and has been constant throughout my life. He seems like such a soft spoken man, but yet what great messages he gives. He always has such great stories to tell.

I am so happy we were finally able to make my mom's birthday wish come true. It was so great to be there with all of my family and experience something so special.

New Background

So I decided it was time for a change of scenery and found some very very cute backgrounds to choose from.  I found them from Cori Carpenter (Jones).  She has created an entire blog devoted to her designs of them,  if you to click here you can choose from some yourself.  She gives instructions on how to adapt the backgrounds to your blog.

Thanks Cori for taking time to put these together they are all so cute it was hard to decide which one to choose.

Just call me a Red Neck?

Ok so maybe this is crazy but I love demolition derbies.  I had never been to one until last year here and Richfield and it was surprisingly really fun and since then have been to a few more.  You have never seen so many displays of the most awesome mullets rocking, beer drinking, 5 pack a day smoker Red Necks in your life.  It is quite a show.  But the actual derby is real exciting.  Check out the few pictures and video to see some of the damage done at the First Annual Spanish Fork Demolition Derby.

All About Me

UGH, I just filled out a whole "All About Me" tag and when i posted it somehow it was all erased and I can't find it anywhere.  So frustrating.....maybe I will take the time later to fill it out again.

Ute Stampede

Since the first year Dallin and I have been in Richfield we have gone to Nephi the weekend after the 4th of July to the Ute Stampede (It is a rodeo).  We started this tradition 3 years ago.  We went just for something to do and we really enjoyed it and decided we would go each year.  The rodeo goes on for 3 different nights.  Each day they ahve a parade before the rodeo.  The first year we went we happened to hit what the call the "Bathing Beauties" parade.   It is a bunch of high school girls in swim suits being paraded down their main street on either big nice trucks or classic old cars.  Can you imagine how well something like that would go over in Blanding.  I honestly could not believe that they were doing it, but as we got asking some people they said they do it ever year.  Kinda Crazy.

This year was no different.  We hit up the Bathing Beauties parade, then we went up to Spansih Fork for some Bajio.  Then that night the Rodeo.  Every year they have a man sky dive into the Arena with a huge America Flag attached to him, it is pretty cool, then right before the end event they do a bunch of fireworks.  We decided this year that as long as we are living in Utah we will try and make it to the Ute Stampede as a family tradition.

Fireworks

Here are some Pics of the Fireworks on the 4th.

4th of July

I know it has been almost 2 weeks now since we celebrated the 4th but I thought I would still post a little about it.  I just LOVE the 4th in Blanding.  In fact I even went so far as to tell Dallin I thought it was "The best celebration in the nation"  Maybe I am a little bias and it is the only 4th celebration that I have ever known but there is nothing like a small town celebration.

Our Independence Day weekend started on Thursday when we left Richfield for Blanding.  When we got there we just kinda hung out.  That night we went down to Blanding Family Practice to help Cathy with the UNHS float.

The morning of the 4th we woke up and went to the parade.  It was a typical Blanding parade.  The kids loved it and kept coming back and showing us all the candy they were getting.  As always I was thoroughly embarrassed about the Gadianton Band.  I say this every year and so this year my dad decided to be real funny and force me onto the float.  He stopped the band in front of Redd's true value where we always sit.  He came over to where I was sitting.  I didn't really think much of it I just thought he was oging to ask me something.  He asked to see my Camera, then when I gave it to him he handed it over to Dallin and that is when I realized what he was doing so I took of running.  Obviously my dad being bigger, stronger, and faster than me ended up catching me and putting me into the truck with him to ride for the rest of the parade.  Now Kendra hates the float as much as me so when we drove past her I forced her in with as well.

After the parade I played sand volleyball.  Me and Kendra typically play with my dad and Justin Moon but we decided they were getting to old so we booted them for some younger guys, We opted to play with Steve Snyder, Jordon, and Lant.  Well it didn't really help us much, we were still out of the tournament early.  Which I won't lie I don't mind, it is fun to play but nice to get done early and relax a little before the evening events.
That night we headed down to the centennial park to enjoy music, food, and fireworks.  I must say that this years fireworks were some of the best I have seen.  What a great 4th of July!!!

Never say Never

So you know when crazy things happen to other people and they tell you about it and you think to yourself, "that could never happen to me"

Well it happened to me!!!

Last night I logged onto our wellsfargo account to look at some stuff and noticed that our balance seemed off so I scrolled down and saw a suspicious looking check amount. At first I thought maybe it was just our taxes finally being deposited but when i viewed the check boy was I wrong. There was a check written out to "Curves for Women". Somebody had written a check for a large some and forged my signature. The strange thing was the check number they used was still in the checkbook I actually just started using.

Well because it was late last night I knew there was nothing I could do about it until in the morning so I went to bed. (Let's just say I had a hard time sleeping, I just could not stop thinking about how this might have happened.) So this morning I told Dallin about it and was like "Let's go pull it up I want to see it." So again we went and pulled up our account and what do you know but the balance has gone WAY down from what it was, so we scrolled down and there was another huge check fraudulently (SP?) written.

We immediately went down to the bank to find out what we needed to do about this. Luckily the lady there was very helpful and helped us submit a Fraud Claim and got us all set back up. They told us it looked like someone hacked into our account online and had scanned and copied different parts of checks and made new checks to use.

So when you hear of crazy stories of things happening to people remind yourself not to think, "That could never happen to me" My new motto is "NEVER say NEVER".

Note: Just as a thought for those of you that do use online banking it might be a good idea to go in and change your username and password every so often.

Oh ya and if you can't tell the picture is of a guy making fake checks. =)

Update.....

I am so terrible at updating this. I love to read everybody elses and see what is going on in there lives. Honestly we just don't have much that is exciting going on. But here is brief update.

4. Dallin is very near finishing up his degree He should be done in December.
5. We have been working on finishing up the landscaping of our yard. I will post pictures when we get it all finished.
6. Still no kids
7. I am thinking of going back to school to get my degree, possibly in Accounting.

Maybe we need a more exciting life just so I have something to post about. ha ha.

A Day in the Life of Bowden

Ok so today I had to go down to the office to do some training. Because it has been kinda cold here in Richfield I let Bowden out for a couple of hours before I had to go, knowing that he would be couped up in his kennel for the 4 hours while I was down at the office. I did not want to leave him outside chained up, which is what I would normally do if I was gone for that long, because it snowed last night, yes you read that correct it snowed ughhh... I was so mad, so anyway at it was kinda cold outside. So right before I left I got him set up in his Kennel and headed out.

On my way home I was feeling bad because he had been stuck in there for the last 4 hours and I thought to myself, I will go home and take him for a walk and play fetch with him to make up for it. (He loves, loves, loves to play fetch and tug of war).

So I walk in the house and go into the living room and see magazines shredded up and scattered everywhere. I did not dawn on me right away that it was him, so I was real confused. Then it popped into my mind that he must have somehow gotten out of his kennel. So I start calling for him and the next thing I know he comes running down the hallway from the bedrooms. Now Bowden is potty trained but what puppy can hold it for 4 hours when he is not in his crate. Probably not any, and not Bowden. I started to go down into the rooms to see what other crazy messes he had created, and found where he had decided to relieve himself. (Thank Goodness for the spotbot!!!!! and a mop and some hot, heavily cloroxed water.)

I am still not sure why i am not just raging mad at him and ready to give him away, but I just found it amusing. You can see a picture above of the torn apart magazines he had so much fun with. Luckily other than the potty mishaps this is all that he got into during his day at home on the loose!!

Catch Up

Isn't she Beautiful!!!!
Smile

Holding Hands
At the Temple
A mouthful of Marshmellows!

Ok, so I am really terrible at updating this thing. It's not like we had anything too exciting happen.....
The last few weekends we have been able to get away and have some fun so I thought I would post a little bit about them.
A few weekends, the weekend of March the 15th I went over to Blanding and Dal went down to Arizona with his dad and brother to watch baseball at spring training. It was quite an eventful trip for us. We took off on Wednesday night at like 8:00 because we had to stick around for some work stuff. Earlier in the week I had gone and bought a mattress for Kendra and Jordon and we were taking it over to Blanding for them. We got onto the freeway and immediately I was nervous it was going to fly out, it kept coming up off the bed of the truck so we pulled over and added some more tie downs to keep it from flying away. Well this did not so much calm my nerves and I kept watching and watching it to make sure. The whole time Dal just kept telling me it is fine and that nothing was going to happen. So after about 40 or so miles I finally relaxed and thought he was right. It was only about 5 minutes after I had quit stressing about it that all of a sudden Dal slammed on the breaks and was like "OH Crap". Yep you guessed it the mattress went flying out of the bed of the truck. Luckily we were right by one of those turn around spots so we hurry and turned around then we had to run down the ditch between the two freeways and grab the mattress and run back and put it in the truck. A few of the tie downs had broke and so for the next 70 miles to Green River we had to go 50 miles an hour at max!!! It felt like forever and about 20 miles away our dog had to get out and pee.
Well we finally made it to Green River, bought some better tie downs and we were on the road again. I continued to stress almost the entire way to Blanding thinking that it would fly out again but luckily it never did. Surprisingly the mattress did not get a single scuff mark when it flew out and onto the freeway!! Sorry again Kenz.
So that was just the trip over. The next couple of days I spent hanging out with my family. On Thursday we did a whole lot of nothing. Friday after Kendra was done with work she got all dressed up in her Wedding Dress and we went and took some pictures of her (Kinda like Bridals I guess) so that she would have a few to display at the wedding. I was glad she trusted me to take them, I really enjoyed it and have always thought that is something I would like to get into so it gave me a little practice. That night we headed over to the Temple with Jordon to take some of the two of them at the temple then we went to Lamplight that night with all of my fam.
Saturday: This was the day of Kendra's Bridal shower. My mom woke up that morning early and started making the dessert and stressing about how her house looked. The shower started at 1:00. We had invited alot of people....if everyone we had invited showed up it would have been like 60 people. Some of the guests were not able to make it but we did still end up with like 30 people there. It was a fun time. We played a few games with everyone, opened gifts, and ate brownie sundaes. The theme of the shower was "Room by Room" Each guest was assigned to a different room and the gift they brought was supposed to be associated with that room. It worked out well and Kenz came away with quite a lot of good stuff to get them started. All in all I think the shower turned out really well. Thanks mom for all the help and for worrying about it.

Sunday we just spent hanging out with Fam again and then we came home on Monday. I would tell ya more about Dal's trip to Arizona but he did not have anything to exciting to tell. They went down and saw a few baseball games and just hung out. They have kinda had a tradition of going down, hopefully they will be able to keep going each year and one day take their little boys with them.
I will post about Easter Weekend soon I hope......

Blanding Here I Come!!!!

Blanding will always be home to me I think. I get to go this weekend and enjoy 4 days with my family. Dallin and I are going over and then he is headed down to Arizona for Spring Training with his Dad and brother. I will be staying in Blanding helping with wedding plans, visititing friends and family, and giving Kendra her Bridal Shower. Which is still not totally planned and it is on Saturday. ha ha. I am excited for a long, relaxing weekend.

Sit....Shake....Fetch

Playing Fetch

Shake

We took Bowden to the park the other day and he loved it. Once he was done sniffing the place out he played fetch with us until we all were getting sick of it. Also he has been doing a great job at his new trick, we taught him how to sit and shake. We are now working on lay down, and also roll over. It has been such great weather over here, I am loving it, I have been so ready for spring!! I love the warmer weather, enjoying time outdoors, shopping for all the fun spring and summer clothes and best of the time change, I love when we have daylight later into the night. Nothing like putting something on the BBQ and enjoying the cool nights.

Battle Wounds.....

Last weekend I went over to Moab and played in a volleyball tournament. It was pretty fun. Dal and I left for Moab and the plan was that he was going to stay for our games on Friday night and then we would drive home to Blanding and I would get up super early and be back to Moab Saturday for our games. When we got to Moab we found out that our team had one of the late games on Friday night and the earliest game on Saturday Morning (6am start time ugh.) So I just sent Dallin on to Blanding.

The first night of pool play we won all of our games except one, we split with one of the teams. We did not get done with all of our games and get back to Tim and Autems until about 12:30 and had to wake up at 5:30 to be ready and at the gym the next morning at 6:00 am. The next morning we were up and at the gym by six but the other team was not there yet. We thought they were going to have to forfeit but they ended up getting there and we started playing bright and early. We won all of our pool play games Saturday morning and the tournament play started around 1:00. We won our first tournament game and then lost our second two and we were out. I won't lie I was kinda glad cause I was getting way beat up and sore and was really craving a Navajo Taco from Twin Rocks. It was a fun weekend, it is always nice to get back home even if it is only for a day or so. I forgot my camera so i don't have any pictures of the tournament but i did take some pics when i got home of my battle wounds from the tournament. Everytime i play in one of these things I keep thinking it will be my last, but I just keep saying yes and each time I end up enjoying it. ha ha.

here are a few pics of my bumps and bruises and if I could take a picture of how sore i was afterwards it would look worse!!

Last saturday we went to the 2A state championship game. Mont Jones team was playing so we went to show some support. lol. We saw Tim and Autem there and sat by them and caught up on life.

I am going to go to Moab this weekend to play in a volleyball tournament with Autem and some others so maybe I will have some more stuff to post on after that.

Tag I am It.....

I did it Tiff!! Let me know if anyone finds something new about me.

A- Attached or single: Been attached for 3 years, 3 months and 29 days! (That's just how long we have been married, so like an extra 4 or 5 months of dating as well.)

B- Best Friend: Of course Dallin. And coming in a close second, my little sis Kenzy Sue.

C-Cake or Pie: Why choose just one I love both. ( Or most any dessert for that matter.)

D-Day of Choice: It's a toss up between Saturdays and Sundays. (During football season neither cause Dal is glued to the tv watching one game after another.)

E- Essential Item: Lotion, nothing worse than having dry hands it is my worst!!!

F- Favorite Color: White....is that even considered a color? It just seems so refreshing.

G- Gummi Bears or Worms: neither, I hate gummy things. I agree with Tiff, you just keep chewing and chewing and it seems like they will never go away.

H- Hometown: Blanding, Utah 84511!!! (Can't wait to get back there one day.)

I- Indulgence(s): Hot Cocoa in the winter. And relaxing bubble baths in our jacuzzi tub.

J- January or July: Hands down July, I absolutely love the fourth of July in Blanding. The warm weather of summer, and it looks like a new tradition with his family of going to a resort in Zions. We went last year for the first time and it was awesome!! Thanks Grandma Boo.

K- Kids: Not yet....

L-Life is incomplete without: Family, I miss mine like crazy, and can't wait to have my own.

M- Marriage Date: October 16, 2004... Monticello, Utah Temple... Can you believe it, time flies!

N- Number of Siblings: 4 - Shay (27) Kendra (20) Jordon (Brother in Law, 21) and last but not least Asa (14)

O- Oranges or Apples: I really like both, I would say oranges if you didn't have to peel them, I am terrible at it.

P- Phobias or Fears: The only one I can really think of is the fear of getting a call that someone close to me has died....as I kid I would hate my parents to leave cause I thought it would be the last time I would see them.....Oh yeah and as I was writing that I also remembered I have a huge fear of thunder. Call me a baby, but there is nothing worse than being woke up by a large crashing thunder at 2 in the morning, and the lighting casting creepy shadows in the room. ( Side Note: I enjoy the thunder as long as I know it is coming or during the day. There is something about it waking me up that terrifies me.)

Q- Quote(s): "By His wounds we are healed" -Anonymous

R- Reason To Smile: My husband, our house, our health, being members of the church, our families, Nieces and Nephews.......the list goes on. We are very blessed and sometimes it is nice to be reminded of how much.

S- Season: Fall.....or Spring. I love all the fall colors, the mountains in the fall, football, etc, but there is also something about the world coming back to life in the spring. (Remember Tiff that was spring how excited we were and we went to the North Chapel and just laid on a blanket and ditched school ha ha)

T- Tag Three: Noelle, Kendra, Jeremy or Kristi, Laici, Tiff Acton (seems like I always used to get emails from Tiff with these =), and anyone else who wants to do it.

U- Unknown fact about me: (Tiff yours did not have the letter U) Uh.....I am not sure.....I will have to keep thinking about that one.

V- Vegetarian or Oppressor of Animal: For sure not a vegetarian, we have some variety of meat at every meal.

W- Worst Habit: Biting my fingernails. I know it is gross but I can't stop AHHHH

X- X-Rays or Ultrasounds: I have only had an X-ray so I guess I will say that

Y- Your Favorite Food: Oriental Chicken from the Betty Crocker cookbook. Love it, Love it, Love it. Also been loving Bajio Mexican Grill lately as well.

Z- Zodiac sign: Sagitaurius

Mini Vacation

This last weekend Dal and I packed up our bags and headed south to some warmer weather in St. George. We were a little worried it might not be too warm because his parents were down there a week or so ago and were snowed in!

We had better luck and it was amazing weather all weekend long, probably in the high sixties everyday. We had a great weekend eating at lots of good food and trying out some new places, shopping at all the little shops (and best of all at Tai Pan, I love that place, such cute stuff for great prices), we went out and took some pictures with the camera we got for christmas and just had a way fun weekend together.

We brought along Bowden and that made some of the stuff we did a little more time restricted because we had to keep checking in on him at the house. But he loved it we bought him a leash and put him in the back yard and he played on the rocks, took naps on the grass in the nice warm sun.

It was great to take 3 days away from life and away from work to just enjoy some time together in a place we both really enjoy. Needless to say we are both ready to pack up and move down there!

Here Comes the Bride

My little sis Kendra is getting married to her high school sweet heart (Ahhhh) on April 12th. I am way excited for her. It reminds me of when I got married over three years ago, man time flies!!

I will be giving her a bridal shower but could use some ideas. (Ideas for themes, games, decorations, food, etc......) I know not many people out there will read this but if you do, leave me an idea or two, or three!

Our New Little One.......

Sleeping with Dad
Oh the joys of potty training
Chow down!
Silly Faces

No we are not pregnant but we did add a new member to our family. Meet Bowden. He is our 2 month old English Bulldog. Ever since we gave little Sadie to the Croft family we have been wanting to get another dog. This time I decided if we were going to get one we better do it right and get the one Dal wanted (He is not a big dog guy but he has wanted a bulldog forever and loves Bowden). We have only had him through the weekend but we are hooked already.

A Brief Update............

I don't think many people out there are really checking out our blog, but thought I would post anyway. I have not posted anything new for like 2 months. I am not very good at keeping up, such a procrastinator. I keep thinking I will update and then never do.

Anyway, since the last post we went home for Christmas and it was great. We went home the Saturday before. We had so much fun with our families and all the kids. (pictures to follow hopefully.....if I don't procrastinate). For Christmas Dallin and I bought a new digital camera. We have both really wanted to start learning more about photography and so we decided instead of just getting something simple like we have had in the past we would step it up a notch. We got a Nikon D40 and have been loving it. We took lots of photos (99% were of the kids during Christmas). From his parents we received money, which always comes in handy and also a roaster pan. My parents gave us Guitar Hero 3 for our x-box. We have been having tons of fun with that and they also gave us a hot cocoa maker (yay, I love a cup of cocoa on winter mornings, and afternoons, and nights. :-). We received many other great gifts from Grandma's and Grandpa's and other friends and family that we are enjoying. The time seemed to go by too fast and we are now back to life in Richfield.

Something else that is new is that I have not been working near as much with Dallin. I have been putting more time into the online coding course I have been doing and trying to get that finished up and start working from home so I can be home when we add to our family of 2. ( No I am not pregnant yet but hopefully soon!!!!) I can't wait to be a mom!

Not much else is going on and I will try to keep things updated more often for those of you actually do check us out from time to time.
